Weekly Gaming Overlook – 23rd April

Hello and welcome to the weekly gaming overlook for the week beginning 23rd April 2012!

This is a new series, based over on the youtube channel, where I look at what games are released this week, what games went down well last week, as well as the happenings and goings on here at The Gamer Scene. Right on time, here is the video with all the info.

Just incase you’re the complete opposite of lazy, or just have some phobia of videos, here’s a quick breakdown of the info I talk about.

  • Tuesday: Prototype 2 (PS3, Xbox 360), Uefa Euro 2012 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC), Risen 2: Dark Waters (PC), Shifting World (3DS)
  • Wednesday: Bloodforge (PS3)
  • Thursday: Chuck E. Cheese’s Arcade Room (DS)
  • Friday: Akai Katana Shin (Xbox 360)
Now of course the two that really stand out there are Prototype 2 and Euro 2012. Unfortunately for the latter, I can’t help but think we will get the same FIFA spin-off that’s churned out for every major tournament, with the occasional new feature they blatantly didn’t want to test on FIFA as they knew it would be rubbish. But then again, you can play as San Marino or other just as obscure countries, so what more could you want?
Prototype 2 on the other hand looks to be big. I played the first one on PC, and I really did enjoy it, so the prospect of what seems like a better overall game makes me quite excited to get my hands on it. As PC apparently deserves a 2 month lapse in comparison to PS3 and Xbox 360, I either have to wait or sneak in on someone’s console to play, but either way, I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
All you lucky console folk better watch out, this game means business

Picks from last week

In case you missed the last week of gaming, not that there has been much going on, here’s a quick summary of the games you might want to take a look at:

Trials Evolution (Xbox 360): Having played plenty of these types of games, I was never too sure how much of a success a game like this on Xbox would be. The answer is, a big one. This game has caught the attention of a lot of gamers, video’ers and critics, with scores for this averaging at 90%. Well worth checking out if you have a 360 at your disposal.

Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention (PSVita): Having played the first two games of Disgaea on PSP, I can personally vouch for the quality of this series. You may not think it’s your type of game (I certainly didn’t), but there’s a certain charm and quality that makes this series a hit. Scoring well with critics, all you PSVita owners should take a look.

Super Monday Night Combat (PC): Lets ignore the server issues this game had on release due to an unexpected amount of interest, and also the average critic’s scores, this multiplayer only game is actually great fun. I have a review on this coming out soon so I won’t give much away, but it’s free, fun, everyone with a PC should download it.

This game has been hot, and no I'm not talking about those fires

Anyway that’s all for this week. The video also contains info on the going’s on from this site, but as you are here, you know what they already are. Please remember to like the video if you enjoyed it, comment with your thoughts on what’s about this week, and subscribe to see more videos from The Gamer Scene. Thanks for watching/reading, see you all next week!
