Weekly Gaming Overlook – 30th April

So we are back once again in my weekly series where I look at what games are released this week, what games went down well and went down badly last week, as well as the happenings and goings on here at The Gamer Scene. Back as usual, here is the video with all your latest info.

Anyway as with all my video’s, for you anti-youtube folk, here’s a quick write up of all the stuff I chat about in the video. So I leave you with a choice, listen or read.

  • Tuesday: Sniper Elite V2 (PS3, Xbox 360), Awesomenauts (PS3), TERA (PC),  Mortal Kombat (PSVita), Nabara’s World: Light/The Myster (DS)
  • Wednesday: Awesomenauts (Xbox 360), Fable Heroes (Xbox 360)
  • Friday: Port Royale 3 (PC)
  • Saturday: Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land (PC)
Not much to shout about this week in the gaming world, the developers seem to be spending all their time in a cave right now. Or like the rest of us they are waiting for Diablo 3 to hit the PC. So with not much happening, it’s left to Sniper Elite V2 to try and take us by storm this week. For my full thoughts on the game head over to my article and give that a read, but if you’re only interested in this overview, I’ll give you a trimmed down version. The game features pretty neat sniper ballistic features, but unfortunately they are used for no more than power driven assassination missions with little direction. But I will still advise you have a look at this game, it provides a nice break for other shooting games, and if you want that little dip of realism, Sniper Elite V2 is certainly the way to go.

Wooh look at how that bullet flies… Pity I couldn’t tell you if I had shot the correct person.

Picks from last week

In case you missed the last week of gaming, not that there has been much going on, here’s a quick summary of the games you might want to take a look at:

Prototype 2 (Xbox 360, PS3): I spent a lot of last weeks overlook talking about how good this game was supposed to be, and thankful it seems to have lived up to my praising words. Whilst I haven’t been able to get my hands on it, critics are certainly liking what they are seeing, so it’s definitely a game to have a look at, more so considering how so damn quiet it is at the moment.

The Walking Dead: Episode 1 (PC): Having spent a lot of time listening to chat about the TV series, I know the TV adaption of the walking dead comics is an absolute hit, and it seems no tricks have been missed with the PC game. 5 episodes to be released over time, zombie apocalypse takes a more puzzle based observation type turn in this game. So unless you have an over-obssession with constantly blowing zombies up, this game should be on all PC gamers list.

UEFA Euro 2012 (PC): When I spoke about this game last week, I stated this would be no more than a slight Fifa edit. Unfortunately I didn’t realise that actually it was worse and simply a DLC for Fifa 2012. My tip for this would be to not waste your money, you might as well save it on a completely new game with new ideas. No I have not played this, but I’ve played enough of Fifa 2012 to know I certainly won’t be wasting money on this.

HEY! Why do you get the gun and leave me with this damn axe!

Anyway that’s all for this week. The video also contains info on the going’s on from this site, but as you are here, you know what they already are. Please remember to like the video if you enjoyed it, comment with your thoughts on what’s about this week, and subscribe to see more videos from The Gamer Scene. Thanks for watching/reading, see you all next week!
